Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
CERT training is designed to teach community members how to help themselves and the people around them during and after a disaster.
The 6-week training is a blend of hands-on and classroom education that will have participants practicing basic disaster response skills, including prioritizing medical care, treating injuries, extinguishing small fires, search and rescue techniques, utility safety, emergency communications, and how to address the psychological impact of disasters. At the end of the course, CERTs will practice their skills and find, rescue, and treat 'injured' survivors in a final earthquake drill.
CERT is a great way for community members to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness in their community.
