The City of Auburn issues Calls to Artists for a variety of arts opportunities throughout the year. View opportunities and sign up to receive information about future calls below.

Postmark Arts & Cultural Programming Grant:

This program provides funding support for artists, arts or cultural organizations, or community members proposing ideas for free arts and cultural programs serving residents and visitors at the new Postmark Center for the Arts. We are excited about bringing local artist and community members together in a space that aims to provide opportunities for growth, creative participation, inspiration, and understanding through dynamic and multi-faceted programming.

Eligibility: Individuals, groups of people, neighborhood or business organizations seeking funding for an art program or cultural event at the Postmark Center for the Arts.

Project Budget: Grants are typically awarded from $500 - $2,000 per project.

2024 Project Support Grants:
The purpose of the Project Support Grant program is to provide support to arts-related projects and programs within the City of Auburn. A portion of the funding for these grants comes from 4Culture/King County Cultural Authority.

Project Budget: Grants are typically awarded from $500 - $2,000 per project.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!

 Deadline: October 18, 2023 

Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence - The Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence provides the opportunity for an artist to pursue their work in, and to be inspired by, the unique and beautiful setting of the Mary Olson Farm in Auburn, Washington for two months in June and July.

Eligibility: This is a call to artists residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon and Idaho).

Project Budget: $3,500 stipend for the selected artist.

Opens 2024
Downtown Sculpture Gallery - The Downtown Sculpture Gallery showcases new sculptures annually providing different public artwork for Auburn residents to experience and enjoy. Artwork is on display for one year, September-September. Selected artists receive an $1,000 stipend.

Eligibility: This is a call to artists residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California and Montana).

Project Budget: $1,000 stipend for selected artists.

Opens Winter 2023 
2025 Site-Specific Art Galleries:

Art on Main and Vault Gallery - Accepts applications from regional artists to install 3-dimensional or multi-media art installations in two site-specific gallery spaces in downtown Auburn: the Art on Main Gallery and the Vault Gallery. Both spaces provide a $1,000 artist stipend to support the creation of new work and site-specific projects, or the installation of existing work for three-month exhibitions.

Eligibility: This is a call to artists residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon and Idaho).

Project Budget: $1,000 stipend for selected artists.

Opens 2024 
Art Galleries - Artists are selected through an annual application process for exhibitions in three city gallery spaces, showcasing diverse artworks by regional artists.

Eligibility: This is a call to artists with no geographical restriction, but all artwork must be dropped off and picked up in person in Auburn, WA on the assigned exhibition dates.

2024-2026 Poet Laureate:
The City of Auburn Poet Laureate recognizes and honors a citizen poet of exceptional talent and accomplishment. The Poet Laureate also encourages appreciation of poetry and literary life in Auburn. Once a Poet Laureate program is established the Auburn Arts Commission will forward a recommendation to the Mayor for final selection and appointment

Eligibility: Any member of the public may nominate a poet for the Poet Laureate position by following the application process offered in this document. Individuals are encouraged to nominate poets from all walks of life, and all poetry forms are welcome. For full eligibility requirements please view the downloadable application (PDF).

Project Budget: The term of service for the next Poet Laureate will be three years, beginning in the January of 2024. The award is honorific. There is no financial compensation for the position.

Opens 2024 
ArtRageous Teaching Artist Opportunity - Seeking talented and creative teaching artists to lead art making activities at the variety of City of Auburn summer festivals and events. Proposed projects that utilize repurposed or recycled materials are encouraged! 

Festivals: ~10,000 – 15,000 total attendance.

Budget: Lead artists paid $40/hour for event and $25 for prep time.
