Clean Sweep

Auburn Community & Events Center, 910 Ninth ST SE, Auburn, WA

Auburn’s 2024 Clean Sweep will be held Saturday, April 20. This event is held in honor of Earth Day. Projects will focus on clean-up, environmental restoration, and beautification efforts in and around Auburn. Volunteer groups will work on light clean-up and maintenance; landscaping, painting, weeding, and planting in and around downtown and at various park sites; and a handful of other projects as needed.

Clean Sweep

Volunteers can either choose to participate in a specific project or can ask to be assigned to any project, in which case your group will be assigned where the most volunteer support is needed. Service clubs, social service agencies, faith-based groups, scouting troops, businesses, families, and individuals are being asked to come together and work on these projects. 

No plastic water bottles

In honor of Earth Day and support of Earthday.org, we are working towards reducing single-use plastics at the event. As such, we will not be providing plastic water bottles to our volunteers. Please plan accordingly to bring your own source of water for the 3-hour event. 

 The morning agenda for Saturday, April 20 is as follows: 

7:30 – 8:30 AM ……Check in – Auburn Community & Events Center
7:30 – 8:30 AM ……Welcome Breakfast – Auburn Community & Events Center
8:45 – 9:00 AM. ......Check in at project location – emailed in advance
***Be sure to bring your own water to your project***
9:00 – 12:00 PM ......Volunteers commence project tasks 

Online Registration closes Wednesday, April 17 at midnight. 

Registrations will not be accepted April 18 or 19. Volunteers interested in participating but have not registered, can register on-site at Les Gove Park.

Tool Collection

New this year, South King Tool Library will be at Game Farm Park from 9 AM – 12 PM collecting tool donations. They can take any manual or power handheld tools that are in working condition. South King Tool Library

Can Take:

  • Manual hand tools
    • Scrapers, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, pliers, and sockets
  • Clamps
  • Tape measures
  • Levels and straight edges
  • Tool belts, tool bags
  • Toolboxes - must be able to stay closed and have a handle to carry, less than 10 pounds
  • Garden tools - please cover any sharp edges
    • Trowels, hatchets, hand hoes, hori horis
  • Garden gloves
  • Fasteners in original packaging
    • Nuts, screws, nails, bolts
  • Unopened glue, caulking, or epoxy
  • Manual blade or chain tools
  • Long handled items
    • rakes, shovels, pitchforks, hoes, spades
  • Large or free-standing power tools

Muckleshoot: Alive & Strong Closing Reception

Reception A Closing Reception for "Muckleshoot: Alive & Strong" gallery exhibition will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 5:00 - 6:30PM.

”Muckleshoot: Alive & Strong,” is a group exhibition featuring artists from the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe. The Postmark Gallery and is filled with artwork in a variety of mediums, sizes, and themes by a variety of incredibly talented artists.

Featured artists include: Isiah Corwin, Sam Obrovac, Kim Saladin, Tyson Simmons, Joyce Starr, Donny Stevenson, Keith Stevenson, and Gail White Eagle.

A family-oriented fun run event that takes place prior to Auburn's Petpalooza festival. Participants will follow a 3K or 5K route. The course is flat, easy and enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. Water will be available on the course for both dogs and human participants. The race is 'chip-timed' by Bell Lap Productions. 

REGISTRATION FEE:

  • Early Registration (on or before March 31) - $20/person
  • Late Registration (April 1 - May 14) - $25/person
  • Sorry, no registrations May 15 - May 17
  • On-Site Registration on May 18 - $30/person
ON-LINE REGISTRATION

***First 100 to register receive a Petpalooza-logoed Clear Zippered Stadium Tote.

Registration includes a limited-edition T-Shirt, full-color race bib and a participation medal. T-shirt sizes not guaranteed for late registrations and available while supplies last for on-site registrations. 

DOG TROT RULES OF PARTICIPATION:

  • All participants must have their race bib on the FRONT of their person
  • Dogs must be current on vaccinations
  • No aggressive dogs
  • No female dogs in heat
  • No more than two dogs per human
  • Keep your dog on a 7-foot leash or shorter at all times. 
  • No dogs under the age of six months
  • Bring your dog only if he/she is well socialized
  • Please, clean up after your dog
  • Run or walk the course only if you and your pet are in adequate physical condition
  • Strollers are welcome on the course
  • Participants may not switch race distances after May 14
  • Participants must run/walk the course in its entirety with a dog to be eligible for awards
  • Route will close after 90-minutes

Petpalooza is a FREE event for pet lovers and a special day for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. Petpalooza is kicked off with a Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run. The event features an animal-related entertainment stage, flydog and agility demos, Emerald Downs' 'Unleashed' Pet Contest, a free agility area, a large variety of vendor booths, adoptions, free and low-cost pet services, give-a-ways and lots of activities to keep both humans and pets entertained.

Juneteenth Celebration

2024 JuneteenthCome celebrate Juneteenth with City of Auburn, hosted by the Mayor’s Office of Equity. This federal holiday commemorates the end of slavery and liberation of Black people in the United States. This is a perfect event for the whole family to enjoy.

Come participate in community fellowship, support local small businesses, and learn from community leaders. Enjoy amazing local artists and musicians and lots of free activities for kids of all ages. The newest addition to the celebration will be a Juneteenth historical exhibit by our local Auburn School District high school students.

Celebrate our country's birthday at Les Gove Park. The event includes entertainment on two stages, a variety of craft artists, a car show, inflatable rides, euro-bungee trampolines, train rides and other fun activities for children. The event also offers a rock climbing wall, mini golf, bocce, food concessions, and so much more! Come see for yourself, this naturally shaded park and spray park will keep you cool during the afternoon.

4th of July FestivalWristband sales begin at 10:00 AM.  You can purchase a wristband for $10 for unlimited activities which include all inflatable rides, cyclone swing, bungee trampolines, rock wall, train rides, mini golf, laser tag and balloon art.
