Citizens Academy

The 2019 Citizen's Academy is full and no longer accepting applications.

Classes are free! Participants meet once each week every Wednesday from 6:00 - 9:00 PM to learn about and interact with Police Department employees, from the Chief to the Volunteer Program Coordinator. Topics of discussion include K-9, Narcotics, Investigations, Firearms/Officer Survival, Records Management, Traffic Enforcement, SWAT and Patrol to name just a few. We encourage all of your questions and seek to provide an environment where the community can become not only better engaged with our agency, but more knowledgeable about the inner workings of law enforcement as opposed to what is usually pushed out through other forms of media.

After attending a minimum of 8 classes you will be scheduled for a ride-along with one of our officers based upon your schedule. You MUST attend 9 of the 12 sessions in order to graduate at the end. If you cannot commit to these courses, please hold off on signing up and come back when your schedule is more free. We will hold another spring and fall academy in 2020.

Applicants must pass a background check prior to being admitted to the class.
